The Acorn Society
Gifts for the Future of the Camp Experience

The Members of The Acorn Society welcome you to become a member of The Acorn Society of the American Camping Foundation by contributing a charitable donation to the American Camp Association. Why? Because you believe in the magic and poetry of the camp experience! You understand our shared responsibility to preserve the camp experience for future generations. Your commitment to the camp experience has been demonstrated through your many actions and good deeds on behalf of children and the camp community. We offer you the opportunity to once again express your dedication to the future through a planned gift to the American Camp Association.

The Acorn Society is a program to recognize the fellowship of men and women who believe in the purposes of organized camping and who want to ensure that the camp experience is continued as a growing, educational opportunity for those who follow. Members of the fellowship include camping in their estate planning and/or make outright gifts to either ACA or the Kruger Endowment of the American Camping Foundation. The Acorn Society holds an annual gathering at the ACA national conference to recognize qualifying donors and celebrate the future of the camp experience. If you qualify for membership in the Acorn Society but have not been recognized by ACA, we encourage you to make your gift known to us.

The crest of The Acorn Society is a symbol of the mighty oak which identifies the role of ACA in providing professional leadership to all aspects of organized camping. The educational, spiritual, physical, and social traditions offered through a camp experience build character, compassion, and commitment. As an association we clearly value people, the natural world, and a sense of contribution. As such, we are dedicated to preserving and promoting the camp experience for generations to come.

The Acorn Society was created as a means for the American Camp Association and the American Camping Foundation to recognize individuals who have made a significant financial commitment to the future of the camp experience. The men and women of The Acorn Society believe in the purposes of the camp experience and its benefits to society and wish to ensure that in the future the American Camping Association will continue to give kids of all ages ". . . a world of good."

Members of the Acorn Society have made a financial contribution to either the American Camp Association or the American Camping Foundation Kruger Endowment in excess of $25,000 or have provided for a significant gift for the future of the camp experience in their wills, trusts, or through some other means. These gifts are expected to grow through carefully managed investments so that their principal remains intact, but the ever-increasing income is available to support ACA now and in the future. In this way, The Acorn Society is the essence of the expression that "a little acorn can become a mighty oak."
