Attendees Experience the Strength of Many
Voices in Nashville
More than 1,150 registered attendees, and
400+ exhibitor personnel, guests, and presenters
gathered at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel,
February 12-15, for the 2008 ACA National
Conference. Rousing keynote lectures,
a vast array of educational breakout options,
a packed exhibit hall, special entertainment
experiences, record participation in Night
on the Town, along with key association
governance activity made for a whirlwind
week.
Extending the Learning
Attendees and non-traveling learners are
welcome to download
presenter handouts. Thanks
to the many presenters that prepared
well-thought-out lectures and workshops,
moderated panels, and facilitated discussion
groups.
Making an Impact
Opening keynote Rick Rigsby touched his
audience through personal stories of
challenge and triumph. He appealed
to each of us to make an impact with
our campers, counselors, and families
versus an impression. Thanks to
the numerous camps and businesses that
helped ACA make an impact in the Nashville
community by generously donating more
than 2,000 T-Shirts for Operation
Camp T-Shirt. See the full list of donors
(click…I am anticipating this
list today). The ACA, Heart of
the South Board and area volunteers made
an exceptional impact through their hospitality
and special touches, including 1200+
roses provided on Valentine's Day.
Special thanks to our Premium Level Sponsors,
CampMinder and the Markel Insurance Company.
We would also like to extend thanks to
the volunteers, teams, subcommittees, and
friends who made our shared success possible.

Registration Opens for the 8th International
Camping Congress
The Association des
camps du Québec with the support of the Ministre
de l'Éducation
du loisir et du sport and its partners,
including the Canadian Camping Association,
the American Camp Association, the International
Camping Fellowship and Quebec City, will
host the 8th International Camping Congress,
October 4-7, 2008, at the Quebec City Convention
Centre.
Registration for the Congress is now available
online or by mail with an Early Bird discount
until April 15. Seventeen
Congress packages are offered with special
rates at four hotels near the Convention
Center. Additional hotels, bed and
breakfasts, and hostels are also conveniently
located. Be among the first to register
for this unique rendezvous! Quebec
City will be celebrating its 400th anniversary
in 2008 and will be welcoming thousands
of visitors for the occasion, so early
lodging reservations are necessary.
The theme, "In Living Colors",
represents the diversity of participating
camps and their missions. ICC Quebec 2008
is a unique international event with the
goal of creating opportunities for the
exchange of ideas and alliances between
camp representatives from various cultures
and various countries. Not only
is this an opportunity for delegates to
discover Quebec for its camps and its capital,
but the event also opens the door to the
global camp community. The program
includes keynote speakers, including ACA's
CEO, Peg Smith, educational sessions, unique
cultural opportunities, an exhibit hall,
and seven meals. During the third
day of the event, the program and Convention
Center will be shared with the World Leisure
Congress. The presence of both congresses
at the same location and at the same time
will allow different delegates to expand,
at no extra cost, resources and contacts.
Pre-Congress events include tours of Canadian
camps, an International Camp Directors
Course, kindred groups, and a two-day Teambuilding
and Leadership Course instructed by Jim
Cain.
Full information about the Congress and
online registration is found at http://www.iccquebec2008.com.
